There is a well-known fact in the world of computing: the most elegant of algorithms
and the cleverest of applications are useless in the face of bad data - and biometric
identification is no exception. BioLock acquires biometric data using RF scanning and
converts scanned data to a secure binary code of 1’s and 0’s using proprietary BRS
software. No images, JPEGS or TIFF or image files are held on any database and the
secure binary data cannot be reverse engineered to generate an image of a fingerprint.

As a result, our BioLock™ biometric identification system, is the
first biometric fingerprint authentication solutions that can work for almost everyone,
everywhere, under the most demanding real-world conditions. At the heart of the
solution is the silicon… the integrated circuit. This solid-state fingerprint-imaging
device is a durable CMOS IC in an industry standard 68-pin package. The rectangular
fingerprint detection surface, called the sensor matrix, is an active antenna array of
more than 16,000 elements. This area is protected by a transparent coating that is
scratch and impact resistant. The sensor matrix is surrounded by an annular drive ring,
which transmits an extremely small signal that the individual antenna elements can
detect.

TruePrint Technology looks past the easily obscured outer layer of the skin - the
epidermis - to the living layer below where the unique ridge and valley patterns of the
fingerprint originate.

When a finger is placed on the chip's detection surface, the drive ring couples a small
signal onto the finger's living sub-dermal layer. Received by the elements of the
sensor matrix, this signal creates a digital pattern that reflects very accurately the
fingerprint's unique underlying structure. This is in sharp contrast to the images
generated by simple optical and capacitive sensors, which read only the outer surface
of the skin.

Using "under-pixel" amplifiers and other signal conditioners, TruePrint manages and
combines the output of the thousands of individual sensor elements to form an
accurate, undistorted image of the fingerprint.

Dynamic Optimization rejects "noise" and unwanted graphical artifacts - thus
ensuring acquisition for even the most difficult fingerprints. More than fifteen key
operating parameters (such as gain, reference signal values, phase shift, and operating
frequency) are managed in real-time, allowing the system to successfully cope with an
extremely wide range of skin conditions, surface contaminations, and environmental
situations. The result is a high-quality RF scan that other approaches simply cannot
equal. This means that Bio Recognition Systems Pty Ltd BioScan™ and BioLock™
Systems with TruePrint Technology acquire accurate data when other methods
cannot.
